About

I am Professor of Data Science and Machine Learning at the Wismar University of Applied Sciences. My research interests include Data Science, Natural Language Processing, and Research Data Management. My work focusses on methods for information and data management by using techniques of natural language processing and data mining in multiple disciplines such as life-, natural-, and information sciences, but also Digital Humanities and Theology.

Together with Anja Eggert, I am co-speaker of ORDS-MV a graduate network for Open and Reproducible Data Science and Statistics in Mecklenburg-Western Pommerania. The goal of ORDS-MV is to bundle regional expertise with respect to data analysis and reproducibility and provide a way to exchange ideas for doctoral candidates, postdocs, and all other interested scientists. With regular meetings, such as the monthly member meeting, we provide a place to discuss questions and issues related to data. We also maintain a mailing list.

I am also affiliated with Institute of Communications Engineering and the Department Knowledge - Culture - Transformation of the Interdisciplinary Faculty at the University of Rostock. Previously, I was postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Communications Engineering and did my Ph.D in Computer Science about Activity, context, and plan recognition with computational causal behavior models where I employed causal models of human behavior and efficient approximate bayesian filtering to recognize information about human behavior.
